The English lexicon is massive. The Oxford English Dictionary contains over 170,000 individual entries, many with dozens of definitions. One of the oddities of this ever-growing language is that there are specific terms for groups of animals, often as a play on words. Most English speakers know that a group of puppies or kittens is called a “litter” and a group of horses, a “herd.” Are you familiar with these other group names?
Although I love designing more complex, punny crosswords like these, I also regularly accept commissions to create custom crosswords for clients who use them in promotional materials and event planning. If you think a crossword might be a good option for your website, ebook, class or celebration, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
